Samantha Major, LCSW, LPC, NCC
Adolescent, Adult & Family Therapist & Board Approved Social Work Supervisor
Owner of S. Major, LLC

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Social Work Supervisor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor, who works with adolescents, adults and families.

My biggest enthusiasm in my professional life is helping others as they resolve what has brought them to therapy while striving to meet their personal goals and aspirations. I am professional while at the same time fun, full of energy and humorous in the treatment process.  I believe that the therapeutic relationship is built on trust and understanding.  I work to ensure a safe environment for you to allow open and honest communication during our time together, without the fear of judgment or criticism. My number one priority in our relationship is you and your goals in treatment.

I have experience working with numerous different issues that individuals and families face.  I have a strong passion for working with children (ages 10-12), adolescents and their families, as well as with adults and the unique challenges that they face.  I use a variety of techniques in my practice which includes traditional “talk therapy” as well as expressive arts, which I tailor to fit each individual client.

My primary theoretical approach to therapy is Adlerian based.  The basic premise of this approach is that human beings are always “becoming,” that we’re always moving toward the future, and our concerns are geared toward our subjective goals rather than an objective past.  When we have unrealistic or unattainable goals, this can lead to self-defeating behaviors and discouragement.  The role of the therapist is to help the client identify mistaken goals, and to help the client develop positive, meaningful interpersonal relationships.

My professional education and experiences have prepared me to work with adolescents, families and adults in an individual, family and group setting.  I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas. I obtained my Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, and my Masters in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University.  I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Texas Counseling Association, as well as the American Counseling Association. I am also a National Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors, NBCC.  I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years at both the inpatient and outpatient levels of care.  I also spent three years teaching third and sixth grade, which gave me further insight into the daily lives of children, adolescents and families.

I welcome you to contact me if you are interested in therapy, social work supervision or if you need any further information.
