Licensed Professional Counselor
Always feeling inadequate from your drive to be perfect? Perfectionism comes with feeling uneasy when making mistakes, high expectations, and good enough is unacceptable. Thinking that being perfect will lead to a happier life usually lends to finding an unfulfilled life. Growth transpires when you let go of holding yourself to the unattainable standards.
Letting go of perfectionism – Freeing yourself of what you think everyone else needs to like and accept you. Feeling confident making your own decisions without attempting to please other people. Finding ways to embrace your imperfections and connect back with what makes you your own person. We will work together to find your own balance within your journey of letting go.
My specialties include perfectionism, anxiety, Autism spectrum disorder, play therapy, ADHD, behavioral issues, LGBTQIA support, and relationship issues. In my work with children, kiddos are provided the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings, and desires through play therapy or AutPlay. Children develop the skills they need to cope with their feelings and move towards growth through play. When working with teens, I provide talk therapy mixed with activity therapy and expressive arts. I also believe in the importance of parent collaboration in a child's treatment to provide education, support, and parenting techniques.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I am currently working on my certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counseling from Texas Tech University. Clinical training and experience include providing counseling services for children, teens, adults, couples, and families in a non-profit organization, community college, and private practice settings. I worked in a center for children with ASD using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
