I believe anything worth having requires work. We are all on a unique journey and each day is an opportunity for growth. In order to grow, we must be willing to immerse ourselves in the process of change and walk out of our comfort zones.
During graduate school, I completed my Practicum at Phoenix House, which is a teen substance abuse facility. While I was there, I ran groups and conducted individual therapy, which gave me a greater understanding of anxiety and substance abuse. I grew an incredible amount of empathy for individuals dealing with anxiety.
I have been a soccer player since age four and even played at a collegiate level. My experiences have given me a great work ethic. They have also shown me the intense pressure athletes feel and how it can hinder their performance. In sports, I believe anxiety stems from a fear of failure or not measuring up to the expectations of others. My desire is to walk along side athletes and provide them with helpful tools to manage these fears.
I utilize many types of therapy for different types of individuals, but I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Both CBT and EFT are effective tools for managing anxiety because they help us examine our own belief system. Knowing what we believe is always a helpful tool for personal growth.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern in the State of Texas supervised by Kelley Doss, LPC-S. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science from Saint Edward’s University and a Masters Degree in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary.
It would be my honor and privilege to walk along side you on your journey! , LPC
